Lucas Dekker is an immersive media artist based in Utrecht, working with VR, AR, film, photography, and 3D. A multidisciplinary maker and founder of Futura Bravado, he is graduating from the University of Arts Utrecht in Image and Media Technology. Lucas is also an editor, he contributed to documentaries focusing on democracy in Africa and Dutch socio-political issues, aiming to spark conversation and awareness. He also has made 2 short films.
His work explores the boundaries of VR with a theatrical approach, questioning societal norms, values, and perceptions of the world. Fascinated by futurism and utopia, Lucas invites audiences to discover new ways of understanding. Recent projects include VR Maze, a mixed-reality experience exhibited at Culturele Zondagen in Utrecht, and Visiting Casey, an immersive theater piece where the viewer’s identity is taken over by a virtual character.
Currently, Lucas is working on a graduation project exploring the unbuilt architecture of London, using VR to uncover the hidden ideologies and values behind architectural visions that never came to be. His connection to London, a city rich in history and transformation, remains a driving influence in his work.
